Alyson and Barbara are big Disney fans who plan to celebrate their wedding at Walt Disney World next year. During a last-minute trip to the parks, they decided to book an engagement session, and I am so glad they did!

Their chemistry was so natural in front of the camera. They started off comfortable right away, but as the session went on, they relaxed even more, bringing out so much fun and playfulness.

These two met in college while playing volleyball, and their bond is so clear in the way they look at each other. Their joy is contagious, and their kindness made every moment together feel so special.

Sunrise at Disney’s Grand Floridian

I met Alyson and Barbara bright and early for a sunrise engagement session at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Florida was in the middle of a summer heat wave, so the morning was warm, sunny, and humid, but you would never know it from looking at these two. From the moment we started, they were full of smiles and laughter, making it such a joy to capture their love. The summer heat was nothing a little photoshop couldn't fix where needed!

Favorite Spots Around the Grand Floridian

The Grand Floridian is one of my favorite places for engagement sessions because of the variety it offers. We started at the fountain before heading to Summerhouse, a wide and quiet space where you can even see the Disney Wedding Pavilion in the background. From there, we stopped at a shaded spot behind the grand staircase - one of my secret go-to areas - and even caught some playful moments with the monorail passing by.

After a quick outfit change, we headed to the Marina, where we captured some of my favorite portraits of the morning. With Cinderella Castle sparkling in the background, it was the perfect ending to a magical Disney engagement session.

Why Engagement Sessions Matter

One of the reasons I love engagement sessions is because they give couples the chance to get comfortable in front of the camera before their wedding day. It’s also the perfect opportunity for me to get to know my couples better: to learn their personalities, their love story, and what kinds of photos feel most natural to them.

I even pay attention to which photos couples share after their session, so I can see the types of poses and moments that really resonate with them. Alyson and Barbara’s session is such a great reminder of how engagement portraits help create not just beautiful images, but confidence and ease in front of the camera, too!
